GCWA DROUGHT CONTINGENCY PLAN:
Update Process
The Gulf Coast Water Authority has embarked on a comprehensive process to update its Drought Contingency Plan – and created a Drought Task Force to represent stakeholders in that effort.
An updated plan was submitted to both the Texas Commision on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the United States Bureau of Reclamation.

The updated plan includes:
- Improved assessment of drought severity
- Planning for groundwater usage during drought
- Better methods of water loss reduction
- Standard drought contingency planning elements
The purpose of the Drought Task Force is to provide feedback and information on components of the Updated Plan – including drought monitoring, vulnerability assessment, mitigation actions and response actions.
